Synopsis-round

She’s stuck in a rut, stuck in life and stuck in an elevator with Hollywood’s hottest actor. And of course she’s just come from the gym.

Claire Parelli just can’t seem to catch a break, well, except for heartbreak, that is. After a lifetime of following the rules, she winds up heartbroken, unfulfilled, and hiding from life. But she can’t hide for long.

After getting stuck aboard a broken elevator with Hollywood It-Boy, Daniel Chase, they begin a secret romance that pries Claire out of her element, out of her shell, and out of her sweatpants. But when their romance accidentally goes public, Claire’s life implodes, leaving her to choose to hunker down in the safety of her sweatpants, or risk her fragile heart on a chance at life, love, and the pursuit of better clothing.

Excper-round

The doors unlock as I approach the car, and I scramble into the passenger seat and lock my door. Moments later, Dan slips into the car as the paparazzi swarm, flashing their cameras through the windows. I duck my head to my knees and cover my face. Finally, we pull away from the curb—and away from the paparazzi.

“Are you all right?” Dan asks, his focus shifting from me to the road.

“Yeah, I’m okay.” My voice is shaky, and I breathe deeply. “Does that really happen on a regular basis?”

He shakes his head. “It’s ridiculous sometimes. Believe it or not, that wasn’t all that bad.”

I blink, trying to erase the spots. “Are those going to be bad for business?”

“What?” He glances at me.

“You know—Daniel Chase is out with a female!” I wave my hands a little.

He snickers and shrugs playfully. “I’ll just say I was out with my granny.”

I swat his shoulder with my purse. “Very nice. I’ll report that the babysitting went well.”

Dan laughs. He glances in the rearview mirror then the side mirrors. “Looks like we’re clear. Where do you want to go?”

I shake my head. “Well, I’m not up for that again.”

He nods. We drive aimlessly without speaking for a few minutes.

Then . . .

“Hear me out, all right?” He glances at me nervously.

“All right.”

“There aren’t many private places to go. The same thing might happen at any other pub we go to, so that leaves us with two places—my hotel or your flat.”

Review: Adam’s Apple by Liv Morris

Title: Adam’s Apple

Author: Liv Morris

Genre: Erotic Romance

Page Length: 303 pages

Release Date: July 28, 2013

ISBN: 978-149090715

Book Summary:

Adam Kingsley reigns as the young prince of Manhattan. Everything he touches turns to gold, making him the envy of Wall Street. Women swoon at his feet, money is no object, and his killer good looks are as wicked as sin. A dangerous trifecta that allows him to possess anything or anyone he desires.

What more could a thirty-two-year-old man wish for? Maybe that his life never changes and his murky past stays far away…Sounds reasonable, yet life seldom is.

Kathryn Delcour is an alluring socialite with unique erotic tastes who helps others find true sexual fulfillment. When she suddenly appears on the New York City social scene, Adam finds this complex woman too tempting to resist. He will stop at nothing to have her, yet she is warned to stay away from him and his player ways. Kathryn tries to keep him at arm’s length, but her arms may not be strong enough to hold the charismatic Adam Kingsley at bay.

An erotic bestseller deliciously sweetened with hidden secrets, seduction, and suspense. The passionate lure of ancient sexual practices, a past that isn’t content to remain buried and a present filled with intrigue, danger and revenge – Adam’s Apple is an erotic experience heightened by the sensual voice of the main character as Adam tells the story in his own words.

Review:

Eight hundred million stars! Loved this book!

Whoa, where to start?

Adam Kingsley is a complete and utter jerk, self-absorbed and apathetic to the world going on around him–unless there’s something in it for him. And I loved him from page one. The thing is… he knows what a jerk he is, but it doesn’t stop him. That is, until Kathryn Delcour walks into the room and takes over his every thought, and slowly his perception of himself–his needs, his success, his life–all begin to change. And yes, it happens slowly, so slowly that you can almost see each individual realization as it occurs to him. He doesn’t lose his bad-boy charm or his edge, but, well… read it.

Kathryn is by far one of the strongest, most well-written characters I have read in a long time. While woman were ready to drop everything for Adam, Kathryn consistently put him in his place, forcing him to face his shortcomings. She’s an enigma to him, appearing unmoved by his charm and looks, yet, there’s something there.

The growth of their relationship is honest and realistic–no insta-love here. Yes, lots of lust and desire, but you can almost feel their affection grow with the turn of each page. I am amazed by the author’s ability to tell the story from the male point of view. Not just any male or–God forbid–a watered-down, totally feminine, written-by-a-woman male, but an honest-to-goodness conceited and shallow jerk who finds himself at a loss over a woman who doesn’t bend to his will.

I loved the writing, the dialogue, the secondary characters… especially Maurice. I loved that Kathryn continued to call him Kingsley, not giving him that last piece, the one piece he kept waiting for. As time went by and he continued to want and wait for it, his growth as a man, as a person was evident.

I really cannot say enough about this book. The romance was honest and fulfilling, the sex was hot, but not overdone. At the end, I believe I exclaimed, “You ended it there?!”  However, due to the utterance just one word, I was satisfied that all was well for Adam and Kathryn. Of course I’m looking forward to the next installment. Is it December yet?
